Sunni provinces are very hard to convert (especially for animists, unless they get decisions for +missionary strength) since they give -2% mis strength. You'll convert to Sunni which is one of the best religious in the game and will allow you to convert your animist provinces easily. I don't remember if Oyo is animist or Sunni, but if you can, conquer a lot of Sunni provinces (so they're over 50% of your territory), start converting one of them (regardless of the fact it can progress or not), go to the section with potential revolts, and accept the Sunni zealots' demands. Converting provinces to your religion will give you significantly less unrest (you can look at the tolerance vs intolerance info on the wiki). After some years, the autonomy will be down significantly and they'll provide you with more and more manpower and tax along the way. 1% per month while at peace, with other govt forms giving you more autonomy reduction per month (starts at admin 12 for monarchies) or events (I think admin idea group has increased centralization for -.05% autonomy). That gives you 25 years of -10 unrest for 'raising autonomy'. Generally, you'll want to pacify them by RAISING autonomy to counter the nationalism it gets (you can see in unrest, it should start with +15 for nationalism, which decays at -.5 per year). Whatever you do, SAVE your mil points, as keeping up/being ahead of military tech is one of the more important things for warfare.Įvery province you take (except one of your cores) starts at 40% autonomy (claimed) or 50% autonomy (not claimed). You can place troops in provinces to get up to -5 unrest (I think its 20 full maintenanced troops). You generally never want to harsh treatment unless you have no way of dealing with a revolt and there's no way the unrest will go to 0 and the revolt risk will drip down to 0. I thought if I used harsh treatment to get them to 0, they'd go away. Ok, so I did the exact SAME thing as you when I started this game.
